Why you will love this opportunity as an Engineering Manager at Civica. As an Engineering Manager at Civica, you will be a hands-on “player-coach”. Your primary responsibility will be to manage a team of software engineers, taking ownership of both the team’s happiness and their delivery efforts. You’ll also be hands on as an individual contributor, and work with your team to ensure the best technical outcomes. If you enjoy both leadership and technical elements of software engineering, this role would be a great fit.  Responsibilities: <ul><li>Recruit, support and manage a team of software engineers. </li></ul><ul><li>Help your team deliver high-quality products by addressing problems and providing the support they need. </li></ul><ul><li>Lead by example in your engineering work and encourage good working practices across the team. </li></ul><ul><li>Design, develop, deploy and maintain software products. </li></ul><ul><li>Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to identify requirements and develop technical solutions. </li></ul><ul><li>Take part in code reviews, give constructive feedback and improve the quality of the team's code. </li></ul><ul><li>Troubleshoot complex issues using log analysis, profiling tools, and collaborative debugging techniques. </li></ul><ul><li>Contribute to documentation and decisions on team processes and tools. </li></ul><ul><li>Implement continuous integration & continuous deployment pipelines for automated testing, build, and deployment processes.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Experience in recruiting, coaching and mentoring software engineers. </li></ul><ul><li>Deep knowledge of modern software development practices such as agile development, continuous delivery, automated testing, security, and observability. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience using engineering metrics to understand and improve software quality and team delivery. </li></ul><ul><li>Able to help your team through ambiguity. </li></ul><ul><li>Build strong relationships with business stakeholders. </li></ul><ul><li>Proficient in writing high-quality, readable, secure, and maintainable code. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong understanding of computer science concepts, data structures, and algorithms. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong knowledge of testing principles and practices; experience writing and automating tests. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure). </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge of observability practices (logging, metrics, tracing) and monitoring tools. </li></ul><ul><li>Understanding of security best practices and secure coding principles. </li></ul>
