Azienda: Nippon Express Europe GmbH · Modalità: in sede · Contratto: Full-time
The Nippon Express (NX) Group is a leading global logistics and supply chain company, connecting businesses across air, ocean, road and rail. With more than 76,000 colleagues across 57 countries and regions, we bring together international reach and local expertise to create smart, reliable supply chain solutions.
Guided by our promise, “We Find the Way,” we keep goods and businesses moving around the world.
As a market-leading freight forwarder, we know exceptional service starts with a warehouse operation that runs smoothly, safely and efficiently. We’re looking for an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join our team at East Midlands Airport , leading from the floor, supporting our people and keeping every part of the operation moving.
You’ll coordinate day-to-day warehouse activities, set clear standards and help your team deliver accurate, high-quality work. Working closely with management, transport colleagues and customers, you’ll support the flow of freight, deliver value-added services and ensure health and safety, quality and client requirements are consistently met.
This is a hands-on role for a proactive and motivating leader who knows warehouse operations and takes pride in building a strong, reliable team. Are you ready to take ownership, champion continuous improvement, and help raise the standard of service our customers have come to expect?
If you're driven by challenge, passionate about people, and ready to make your mark in a busy freight environment, we'd love to hear from you.
What you’ll do
• Lead daily warehouse operations across goods-in, storage, picking, packing, dispatch and stock control. Set priorities, allocate workloads and keep activity on track to meet operational targets, customer requirements and agreed SLAs.
• Build a capable, motivated team. Lead daily briefings, communicate priorities clearly, and coach and develop colleagues through training, feedback and support. Monitor attendance and performance, and address or escalate concerns when needed.
• Keep stock accurate and under control. Work closely with the Stock Inventory Coordinator to maintain reliable records, oversee cycle counts and stock takes, investigate discrepancies, and manage surplus, obsolete, damaged or quarantined stock.
• Make order fulfilment dependable. Ensure orders are picked, packed, labelled and checked accurately before dispatch. Monitor outbound performance, support on-time delivery, and work with transport providers and internal teams to resolve issues.
• Put safety and standards at the heart of the operation. Promote safe working, maintain excellent housekeeping, carry out workplace inspections and ensure goods are handled and secured correctly. Investigate and report incidents, near misses and safety concerns through the appropriate non-conformance process.
• Protect quality and compliance. Make sure warehouse processes, checks and records meet customer, company and regulatory requirements. Support audits and inspections, and help maintain relevant ISO and industry standards.
• Use performance insight to make things better. Monitor and report warehouse KPIs, spot issues and recommend practical improvements. Support resource planning as business demands change, and work with the Warehouse Manager on continuous improvement.
What you’ll bring
• Forklift licence (essential): A valid forklift licence/certification and proven experience operating forklifts safely and efficiently in a warehouse environment.
• Warehouse experience: Proven experience in a warehouse, logistics or supply chain environment, with previous experience supervising or leading a warehouse team.
• Operational know-how: A strong understanding of warehouse processes, inventory control and distribution, with experience managing teams and delivering performance targets.
• Health and safety awareness: An understanding of warehouse health and safety requirements and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
• Systems and digital skills: Experience using a Warehouse Management System and stock control systems. Knowledge of AS400 or CargoWise would be an advantage, but isn’t essential. You’ll also be comfortable using Microsoft Office.
• Planning and problem-solving: Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workloads, make sound decisions and resolve issues effectively - especially when the pressure is on.
• Leadership and communication: The ability to motivate and develop people, communicate clearly and build positive working relationships across teams.
• A customer-focused mindset: A proactive, positive and results-driven approach, with the reliability and accountability to follow through and find a way forward when requirements change.
What will make you an exceptional fit?
Flexibility is key in this role. You'll be willing to support occasional overtime during peak periods, and a full UK driving licence or additional equipment licences would be beneficial. Above all, you're a team player who stays positive, adapts to changing demands, and isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves when extra support is needed.
What can we offer?
• Competitive salary and benefits package
• 25 days holiday
• A collaborative and supportive work environment
• Exposure to international markets and logistics networks
• Stable position within a global top 10 Forwarder
If you thrive in a hands-on role where every day brings a new challenge, this could be the next step you’re looking for
